Who would rent an entire van to move some PVC pipe?

Some people would. "10 feet? Long? Honey, how are we going to get that home???"

I know people that have rented that thing to bring home sections of 8' crown molding.

$20 for a rent a truck is really nice when you need to move 30 sheets of drywall, and it only takes you 75 minutes to load, move, unload and return. Convenient, and costs about the same as the case of beer you would buy your friend to borrow his.

Crown molding shouldn't ride on a roof rack. It isn't commoner molding.

I use those fairly often. Cheaper than delivery for bulky items and more convenient than borrowing a friends truck.

Yes, but advantage the latter is that you can enjoy some of the beers you had just donated.

I've done that before because I live VERY close to a Home Depot so I rarely need to use it for more than an hour at a time. It's cheaper than renting one for a full day by a long shot.

Sometimes it makes sense to use one. Even a washing machine won't fit on top of the car.

I was being silly more than anything.

Wish I could find the picture of when I was helping a friend move and I had 3 guitars sticking out of the sunroof of my 944.

I measured my FoST to see if I could get a 2x6x16 plank home.

I couldn't. haha

Luckily they delivered.

Ive rented the home depot truck 2x. Once to bring home a Weber grill that was on closeout in the middle of winter (webers are NEVER on sale). And once to bring home about 15 interior doors for the house. I'm 3 miles from my nearest HD. The rent a truck is great.

I had a drink challenge once to drinker 11 half pint snake-bites faster than the other guy. I won buy a glass and a half and the other guy ran out the room throwing up. Oh the youth of yesterday.

can you fill that thing up with ice? If so, that is a princely tailgating solution.

In my dyke-wagon Forester, if I remove the passenger headrest, fully recline the seat, then flip down the rear seat, I can put an 8 ft ladder INSIDE the car and close the tailgate.

All kinds of crap rides on my roof. Lumber, molding, plywood... Sometimes all three.
